Welcome to the Indiana HIMSS Chapter
This is Gary Schwebach. I am the new president of the Indiana Chapter of HIMSS and want to introduce myself. The Board of Directors and I are glad you are associated with our chapter and are putting together plans for the 2024-2025 year with the goal of providing you with valuable training and learning in healthcare information and management systems. This will not only help you in your professional knowledge but will also provide you with credit hours for your certifications. We also want to represent you to the different governmental and regulatory agencies to ensure your needs are addressed as the healthcare environment changes in Indiana. Finally, we hope to provide you with opportunities to meet and network with other people in the industry.
This year we are starting with an integrated professional training program. The goal of this program is to provide a comprehensive overview of how healthcare data can be used to address emerging health issues with a focus on the specific area of population health. These presentations will build on each other to provide members with a framework for incorporating their data into usable decision support tools using the latest health information technology.
Here are our planned topics for the year:
- Artificial Intelligence 101
- Managing risk of AI
- Obesity Panel - Role of Data in Addressing the Obesity Epidemic
- Real World Examples of How AI is Improving the Patient Experience
- “If your data is not ready for BI, is it ready for AI?” -
- Transparency with Patients and their Data - Social Determinants of Health
- Deciding how you will start using AI responsibly in your organization
- Data Science and Risk Management: Using Data to Measure Risk
- Hospital at Home – Moving Data to the Patient
- Panel Discussion – Bringing It All Together
More details will be forthcoming but plan on attending as many or all of these webinars as you can. If you have other ideas you would like to share, please send those to indiana.info@himsschapter.org. I will read and thoughtfully consider incorporating your ideas into our plan this year.
If you wish to volunteer on a committee or have an interest in serving on our leadership team, let us know. If you are not a member, check out our membership options. Annual membership is as low as $39!
It is my privilege to serve as your president this year and I hope to bring all of us together to work for the betterment of healthcare in Indiana.
